
We are a non-profit membership community theatre group, operating in the Cape Ann area of Massachusetts. Our purpose is to present the works of William Shakespeare and other authors of the same period for the entertainment and educational pleasure of the community at large.
Meet Our Board Members

President
Brian Weed
Brian has been a fan of CAST since seeing Joseph as King Lear at Gloucester Stage over 10 years ago. Brian has been involved as an actor and board member since 2020. He currently serves as Board President. Brian is a Director at Applied Materials in serves as Treasurer of the Gloucester Education Foundation.

Mark Efinger
Mark Efinger moved to Gloucester in 2023 and was first seen on the C.A.S.T. stage as the king’s older brother in Edward II. Since then, for CAST he has directed “Twelfth Night” and two of the “One Act Wonders”, and produced “Two Gentlemen of Verona”. He has also performed with Lanes Coven Theatre, and understudied at Gloucester Stage. Now retired , he was the chair of Theatre and Dance at Phillips Academy where he taught for 20 years. ​

Billy Lewand
Billy is an actor, director, and songwriter from Salem, MA and has been a CAST board member since 2023. Outside of CAST, he has performed or worked with many other community and regional theater companies, and has trained with Shakespeare & Company and Actor's Shakespeare Project. When not making theater or music he enjoys reading, exploring New England, and spending time with his wife and cat.

Board Member - Secretary
Deirdre Weed
Deirdre first joined CAST in 2020 right before the world shut down and the show couldn’t go on. But since then she has been involved in everything they have produced. She joined the Board in 2022 and is now acting Secretary. When not on the stage she can be found teaching at West Parish Elementary school or singing in The Cape Ann Symphony Chorus and Chorus North Shore.

Cindy Efinger
Cindy comes to Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe as Treasurer. She has a background running art businesses and is currently managing her art studio today. She has staged managed several show, directed a few and currently helps CAST with costumes, lighting, props and house management.

Advisory Board Member
Beth Bevins
Beth has enjoyed many on and offstage adventures since joining CAST in 2010. Her favorite role is that of the troupe's graphic designer and publicity coordinator. Over the years, she developed and curated CAST's signature brand through posters, programs and media promotions. Currently an Advisory member, she has served in various capacities on CAST's Board of Directors.

Sarah Fader
Sarah is a dancer, actor, and choreographer who teaches dance and theatre classes for children and adults in Cambridge and throughout the North Shore. Her favorite roles with CAST include Ariel in "The Tempest" and Hermione in "The Winter's Tale." Sarah is also a freelance writer and editor, as well as a writing coach and an ESL instructor.

Emeritus Board Member
Joseph Stigliano
Founder and Artistic Director of Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe (2008 - 2023). He is presently Artistic Director Emeritus. Joseph has worked with other local theatre groups including Salem Theatre, Theatre In The Pines, Garden College "Cry Innocent, Gloucester Stage and others.

Ray Jenness
Ray was the Technical Director for many years at Gloucester Stage. He helped Joseph develop Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe and became the head Technical Director for CAST.
